I Knew You Yesterday
I knew you yesterday I witnessed your sheereen smile I knew you yesterday Graciously you served me tea and kindness I knew you yesterday Introduced to your poetic prose and verse I knew you yesterday As a bright pink rose, heart exposing soul Today, I know your kindness that seeps within For I have drank from the cup of your poetry Of your dreams, inspiration given In verse and rhyme I have tasted loves desire so divine You have weaved the heart around the olive tree Of passions growth and windy breeze Erotic loves built on bricks of stone Like an open bloom you kiss the bees A thousand men would cross the seas If only to see the words you weave In verse and rhyme Romantic poetry from depths below Would make any heart weep and cry Let not any brave man die Before reading a verse from thee Note:The word sheereen in Persian means 'sweet,' |
